MY OWN JOURNEY INTO CREATIVITY

So, I’ve been wanting to write this post for quite some time now. I thought it would be relevant to share my own personal journey and put it into words.

How do you find your place in a market that are full of brilliant , beautiful and competent people? How do you stand your ground in a world that constantly over-floods your feed with new and better ideas. It takes a lot of effort and awareness to learn how to listen to your gut and your mind, especially when there is so much noise.

For years I’ve been working with myself and with my professional purpose in life. I still cannot say that I’m there, but when will we ever be? The most important lesson from my story is, that there is room for constant growth and the award of getting to know yourself and your boundaries are tough but so worth it.

When we focus on all that we are not, we loose sight of all that we are.

Growing up, I knew that I wanted to work for myself. I used to run my own company in my room, signing people in and out of books, booking clients for my pretend-hair salon and always typing on my play-keyboard. I also ended up in business school and took years of classes in marketing and concept development. Truth be told - they never taught me as much as I’ve learned from working in the business for the past 11 years. Implementing ideas and developing creative initiatives you simply cannot learn from a book.

The way we do things are highly affected by the environment in which we grew up. How we were talked to and with what attitude we approach sudden issues. A very important parameter for succes is encouragement, support from people close to us and we need to have done the work. By done the work, I mean, that for most it needs to be learned the hard way. By trial and error if you know what I mean, nothing potentially comes easy.

Working for different businesses for years taught me a lot, but what I understood the clearest, was that this was not the way for me to go. I needed to have my own voice, set and build my own structures and be creative whenever I needed it. So I was trying to figure how to go about this, I started a blog, I researched the internet and saved all of my findings and ideas in digital folders and around my house - saving ideas for that day when it would be the right time for me to start my own business. Years went by…obviously!

One day, out of the blue, an opportunity occurred and very quickly I now owned a physical shop in the city where I lived. I started my creative proces full speed. I started working on a logo, colouring, layout and all visuals. I was fired up and ready to go, finally all of my years of preparing could see the light of day.

And then Covid happened and the world changed over night. All of sudden everything was nowhere near normal. We ended up filling for bankruptcy after fighting the aftermaths after Covid. I love all of the learnings that I got from it and today I can look back and use all of that learning when coaching and working with clients in their businesses. I’ve learned to celebrate all the wins and the losses.

So how did I end up starting Yeehaw Studio?

I wanted a space of my own, from where I could work with different clients being creative and help with the things that I love to do. I spend a lot of time working with myself trying to understand what I wanted to do and what I love to do. It is very common that we makers and creators are stuck in old stories and sometimes we need to let go of these old stories and create new ones to tell.

I ended up asking myself questions like;

  • What do you really want to create or build?

  • What needs to change or what needs to shift in order to make that change?

  • What do you want to be known for?

  • Who can you reach out to for help and guidance?

There is nothing wrong with admitting and feeling stuck in the loop. We’ve all been there. It’s a part of the process. Working with your brand and with yourself helps you to start re-framing what you want to do from now on.

So what I’ve done is to create an agency that focus on helping business owners and entrepreneurs building/developming their creative direction and guide them in the proces of becoming more clear and aligned with their business identity.

Thank you for reading this far. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you have an inquiry, questions or would like to learn more about what it could look like to work with me.
